RS-27 #316 sits in front of the Wisconsin Rapids roundhouse.

#903

Here's a February 10, 1968 photo of this same engine when it first arrived on the GB&W twenty-two years earler.

Here's a fantastic photo of Alco RS-27 at the Wisconsin Rapids roundhouse. The locomotive is wearing a red paint job with white GBW serif lettering and white handrails at the steps, which has only recently become the "standard" paint scheme for the GB&W. Not all locomotives were repainted in this scheme before the downfall of the railroad in the summer of 1993.

This engine is still hard at work as Minnesota Commercial #316, along with sister ex-GBW #318. They are the only two RS-27s left in the world, a testament to the skill that the Green Bay & Western shop crews had in keeping these Alcos working long after the parent company and most sources of parts went away.

This picture was taken by Scott Janz on March 26, 1990.  A thanks goes out to Bob Schoneman for sharing this photo.
