The spring thaw is underway and Alco RS-27 (model DL640) sits in a slushy Wisconsin Rapids yard.

Compare this photo to a 1960 builder's photo and note the changes:

• The large glass all-weather windows have been replaced by a much smaller one.
• The steps on the end of the loco have been replaced with Alco Centruy-style ladders.

These changes occurred about about 1965-66.
