Check out the depot sign - Green Bay 76 miles Winona 138 miles. There is a Wells, Fargo & Co. Express sign on front corner of the depot and another Wells, Fargo,& Co. Express sign on front between baggage doors. I think the small building visible on far side is an outhouse. Why such a large depot? Besides an ample passenger section, the freight end is large enough to have two doors. And the building is two stories tall! A second depot was built n 1912 and was retired from service in 1957, making it one of the last depots in use on the railroad. |
