East Halls Creek was crossed by this large pipe culvert.

The town of Merrillan lies between the meandering paths of the east
and west forks of Halls Creek.  Although just a trickle today, the
size of the culvert -- about sixteen feet in diameter -- is a testament to the never-ending battle with
flooding that the railroad fought on the Whitehall Division.  The east fork was crossed by a
plate girder bridge on high abutments before a 1968 derailment
        destroyed the bridge.
Bob Gile captured captured westbound Train No. 2 crossing the east
fork of Halls Creek.  This is a simple scene just screaming to be
captured on a model layout.  (As a civil engineer who appreciates
both the potential of flood waters and the immense weight of trains over
the stream, I can assure you that I will find a place to capture the
essence of this scene on my layout.)
