A wrecker is called in to upright a GBW boxcar which is leaning precariously over the side of a wooden trestle.

Here is an interesting image of a derailment on a long trestle, with two Green Bay & Western boxcars and a Chicago & North Western stock car.  In the background is a wrecker, and a steam locomotive sits behind it.  The remains of a fourth freight car lies smashed on the ground on the left side of the picture.

Notice that the trestle bents are being upgraded -- there are finished timber trestle piles and larger unfinished piles under the bridge. 

The lettering style on GBW boxcar #1706 was the standard of the time adopted by the Master Car Builders Association (MCB), the forerunner to the American Railway Association's Mechanical Division.

I am unsure of the exact location of this photo, but it appears to be on the Winona & Western, somewhere in the Bear Creek Valley.
